As soon as I saw the first headline "McCain picks Palin for running mate," the image instantly leaped into my mind of John McCain and Michael Palin arm in arm singing, "We are lumberjacks, and we're okay . . . ."

With Michael he couldn't have done better; with Sarah he couldn't have done worse.
