"Ode to the Vacuum Cleaner"

Potbellied sucker
of rugs,
floorsniffer,
forager
in narrow
places forgotten
by light,
gatherer of the frayed edges
of our dreams
collecting
in unregarded
spaces
and weighing
down
the corners
of our lives,
you feed
on our
losses
and open
the way
for fresh
air and
new light.

wow, this is another hot one for a guy who's losing steam. This is really a fresh view and a novel working of the metaphor. And it's got them red wagon line breaks I mentioned in "Berrying". excellent ending and lbs, prevalent rhyme. very nice.

Thanks, cookie. The line breaks come a bit more from Neruda in this one, though, since I was trying for something like his wonderful Elemental Odes which were intended to be published in a single newspaper column so are very thin.

Thanks for the comments.
